A BIT ABOUT THE CHARITY BLOG

Each year, me and my wife Hazel have decided to help a Charity, by donating 25p every goal we see at the matches we attend. Over the years, people and clubs have also donated as we have visited the grounds and we have raised over £2,300 in the 3 seasons we have run the Blog.
During the 2014-15 season, we are supporting "Support Dogs" who train Dogs to transform lives of people with Autism and other disabilities. So if you would like to make a donation(no matter how small) and you see me at a match, please come up to me or Hazel, we would be very grateful. All Donators will get a mention on the blog.

BURTON RE-JOYCE AT ATTENBOROUGH

Notts Senior League
Senior Division
ATTENBOROUGH FC 1 BURTON JOYCE FC 3

Attenborough FC must hate the sight of me, as I seem to be a bit of a jinx to them, as I cant remember ever seeing them win. A visit today at The Strand was a must to catch up and have a chat with the home club who are n this seasons Notts Senior League Groundhop, funny enough at Burton Joyce, todays visitors.

On arrival, I was greeted by Club Secretary Terry Allen and Club Chair Sid Brown and was given a free cuppa and was soon joined by one of todays officials John Beckett. I had taken my camcorder along to do abit of filming which I hope turns out ok so I can put on youtube about the groundhop in April. As I finished filming, along came my best man at mine and Hazels wedding Greg Osborne and his dad Mick who used to do the Attenborough FC programme back in the early 1990's.

The game kicked off and Burton Joyce looked like they wanted the ball more and was a step quicker than their hosts and after just 9 minutes, Troy Smith smashed the ball against the far post for it to fall inbetween 3 defenders, to which one of them attempted to clear and it hit another and landed in the back of the net.

Burton continued to file forward and the home defence cleared off the line twice before in the 17th minute SAM BUCKLE doubled their lead. Burton could well have been 4 up at half time but for the brave and good keeping by the home keeper.

The Second Half kicked off and Attenborough looked the more livelier though after 50 minutes, the visitors were awarded a penalty, to which the Attenborough keeper made himself a hero with a superb stop. On the hour Attenborough then breached the Joyce back line when LIAM SLATER cut the arrears. Was this the fightback?.
On 81 minutes, Attenborough thought they had levelled things as the ball struck the back of the net, but the Linesman had his flag up for offside. The homesters threw everyone forward to try and rescue the game, but left gaps at the back and in the 86th minute, ROWAN COOPER broke through and lobbed the oncoming keeper to seal the points for Burton.
