Having scouted round the websites looking for games after the Notts Senior League had finished, there were very few left, but came across this fixture and with it not being too far away from Mansfield, this fitted the bill. I'd never ventured in to the Grantham & District League and also missed Barrowby FC whilst they had a short stay in the CMFL.

On my way to hospital yesterday morning, I had a phone call from Buxton Hopper Ian Oldfield who asked if I was still going to the match and then asked if I would like a lift, so at midday today Ian picked me up and we headed to Barrowby near Grantham.

On arrival we was met by Geoff who was shocked to see us two at the ground and whilst e set up, we went down to the village pub before getting back to the ground.

We was greeted by the League Secretary/Treasurer Vicki and committee member Bob and todays Referee Tony Sharrock, who kindly gave me the team line up's just before kick off.

The game kicked off at a frantic page with both sides looking to break the deadlock and both having early attacks, but it was FC Blue Pig who took the lead after 6 minutes when DANNY HENSON beat the offside trap and slotted the ball home. Within 3 minutes, the scores were level, when MARTIN WORMALL scored from an acute angle past the keeper.

Ancaster then seemed to have the majority of the play winning a lot in the midfield area and after 36 minutes, after a scramble in the Blue Pig six yard box, JORDAN STINSON squeezed the ball in to the net. As half time was approaching Blue Pig wasn't giving up and a high cross from the left found out LEE RADFORD who headed over the outcoming keeper to make it 2-2.

The Second Half I stood chatting to Ian Hughes of the United Counties League, whilst the game was getting in to a few rough and tumble tackles with Referee Tony Sharrock doing well keeping a lid on things. After 62 minutes, it was Ancaster who made the breakthrough when KEN DOLL fired his side into a 3-2 lead. Blue Pig weren't going down without a fight and after 73 minutes, LEE RADFORD scored his second of the game and levelled things up at 3-3.

Ancaster then began to find spaces behind the Blue Pig back four and on 79 minutes, MARTIN WORMALL put his side in to a 4-3 lead. After 84 minutes, a silly incident by a Blue Pig player saw him receive his Second Yellow Card of the game and so making his clubs a touch more difficult. As people were looking at their watches, it was that man again MARTIN WORMALL who finished the scoring with his hat trick and he secured the cup victory for Ancaster Rams FC.

The Notts Senior League Senior Cup Final pitted the two top teams against each other in this seasons Final of the competition.

 

A good advert was presented by both teams for the Notts Senior League with a close but exciting game with plenty of chances.

 

The winning goal came after 23 minutes when a fierce shot was met by the head of RYAN BOWEN who guided the ball in to the back of the net.

 

West Bridgford pushed forward in the Second Half and the closest they came was after 71 minutes when Tim Hopkinson hit the underside of the crossbar and the ball spun outwards and in to play.

In front of a healthy crowd of 181 at Basford United's Greenwich Avenue Ground, Kimberley Miners Welfare Reserves FC won a close Cup Final over last seasons holders Linby Colliery Welfare Reserves FC 1-0 through a 71st minute goal by LUKE HODGEMAN.

 

The evening began with both sides carving out good chances after some very good football, but without any scoring. The Second half saw very much the same pattern with both sides going very close and  both sides having one on one chances to opening the scoring but finding the goalkeepers in fine form until a long clearance from the Miners defence caught out the Colliery defence and HODGEMAN was clear to take the ball past the oncoming keeper and slot home the winner.

 

Linby pushed forward in vein for a equaliser but it wasn't to be their night this season, but both sides must be given a lot of credit for reaching this stage of the competition.

Tonight we launched next seasons Charity and began the raffle and we would like to thank everyone who bought raffle tickets as we raised a whopping £102, I would also like to thank Malc Storer & Kev Goodman who also began the ball rolling donating a tenner.

 

 We have chosen 2 charities for next season, both have similar aims and are very close to me, as they help homeless and vulnerable adults.  I left home at 15 and slept for 3 weeks on Broadmarsh car park, also Hazel's daughter works with homeless and vulnerable adults as well.

HALF CENTREY MAN GRAYSON SEALS SIXTH

When it starts to see the season wind up, its hard sometimes to find matches with anything to play for, so it comes down to clubs that have been so good to ask you to visit them, so Glapwell was on the cards today, what wasn't was the amount of hoppers from all over that arrived, people from as far as Boston to Walsall to local hoppers who turned out in force, so much that programme editor Paul Hepworth was in the press room printing more and more programmes as they sold out 5 times.

 

The situation of the game was that Harworth needed three points to gain sixth place, whilst Glapwell needed to avoid defeat. It was Glapwell that settled the better and on 13 minutes, it wwas unlucky for the visitors when 50 year old veteran NEIL GRAYSON placed the ball past the oncoming visiting keeper.

 

Harworth pressed forward with young winger  Ross Taylor chasing everything but to no avail. Glapwell pressed forward and went close from a couple of free kicks to adding to their tally but only one goal separated the sides.

 

The Second Half went end to end but not much to trouble both keepers to be fair, so with Glapwell winning it secured them sixth place whilst this defeat dropped Harworth down to eighth on goal difference.

BINGHAM FINISH FIFTH

SANDHURST FC 0 BINGHAM TOWN FC 2

Well after a downpour of showers all afternoon, I didn't take my camera, so all credit to my wife Hazel who whilst dropping me off at Sandhurst FC took a lovely photo of a full rainbow, so that's what you are stuck with tonight.

 

As I was drinking my cuppa in the nice clubhouse after speaking to both sides and the officials, I was joined by hoppers from wide and afar and Kirton Brickworks Chairman Tony.

 

Sandhurst kicked off to the goal to our left with the wind behind them whilst Bingham played down the slope against a strong wind. Sandhurst had several close shots in the first half but it remained 0-0 at half time.

 

The Second Half and the wind had died down after a short but wetting shower that had sent Kirtons Tony home to watch some rubbish footie on the box..poor mans team weren't even on the tele as Arsenal had failed at the last hurdle I think,,shows how much I watch premiership stuff!

 

Bingham seemed to have the majority of the Second Halfs play but Sandhurst battled but on 55 minutes, EDWARD HODGSON fired home to send the visitors in to a 1-0 lead. They then hit the post from a 30 yard shot, but Sandhurst also had their chances but to no avail.

 

After 83 minutes, a claim for a penalty was waved away by ref Tim Gregory and the ball fell outside the box for JOHN MOORLEY to smash home and give Bingham the points.

PHOENIX HIT EIGHT AT SORRY WELBECK

Was kindly offered a lift by Buxton based hopper Ian Oldfield and Id not been to Welbeck's new ground, so took up on the opportunity. We arrived early to get our programmes, but since my last visit to Welbeck, they have begun to do club mugs for £4, so another one had to be had for my collection.

 

We popped down the hill to the local pub and sat in the sunshine as the traffic roared by on a pleasant afternoon before heading back up to the ground, that was now filling up with hoppers from all over the UK.

 

A good chat with everyone and then got the teamsheets, but unknown to us Phoenix' was incorrect and had their 2 forwards the wrong way round as numbers 9 and 10, so when tweeting as the goals went in, I was tweeting the wrong goalscorers, so this is a blog has the correct ones!

 

We didn't have to wait long for the first goal as Phoenix on their first attack after 2 minutes had the ball in the net through ADAM BOOTH and not Gorman as I'd tweeted.  Phoenix pushed forward but Sipson in the home goal was playing a blinder coming out and smothering everything. After 29 minutes though, he had no chance when ADAM BOOTH doubled his side's lead and as they say like buses they come in twos and this was the case as in the 32nd minute, ROB GORMAN added a third(not booth as tweeted).

 

Half time came and as the hoppers gathered with their refreshments, the home manager wasn't too happy with some of his players as they hadn't gone in the changing room, so came out to get them in with a few choice words used.

 

After 65 minutes, ADAM BOOTH made it 4-0 and completed his hat trick and home defender Nathan Ward wasn't best pleased with the rest of his side. With in 4 minutes, ROB GORMAN made it 5-0 and the defender just lost it and the referee had no alternative but to show him the red card to which he wasn't happy about, but his own players were telling him to get off the pitch.

 

Welbeck now had a uphill battle on their hands to save this game going to double figures, but had a good 5 minutes where they looked likely to score, but on 77 minutes KIERON GALLAGHER made it 6-0.  On 84 minutes, ADAM BOOTH scored his 4th and his sides 7th of the game and you just felt sorry for Welbeck who were trying but it just wasn't good enough. 87 minutes saw HYDEN MARKLEW get in on the act and make the final score 8-0 to Phoenix.

TOWN BEAT TEN MAN ALL WHITES

On arrival met by the CMFL Committee and Shawn was soon looking forward to his Sunday Lunch, Sausage and chips, I had Pie and chips, a lot of the local hoppers arrived as the ground began to fill as Shawn spotted faces he knew and gave out hugs to them all.

 

The game kicked off and a ball out to the wing after just 2 minutes, saw a rash two footed challenge by Clifton Captain Craig Anderson dismissed from the field of play. Though the game was 0-0at half time, it was the ten men of Clifton that had created the better of the chances.

 

After the half time cuppa in the hospitality room, it was outside to the action and it was Town who were first to strike after 47 minutes when a ball sent ADAM NELSON thorough to slot past the keeper.

 

With All Whites pressing forward, it left huge gaps at the back and Hucknall kept pressing forward at will and on 57 minutes, NIALL THOMPSON doubled the lead. Clifton now were struggling with the man less as Hucknall picked up another gear and missed out on a 4 on 1 chance to make it 3-0.

 

As the game was coming to a close on 85 minutes, substitute JONANTHAN HAMILTON made it 3-0 and secured the cup for the Watnall Road crew to send their supporters in to song behind the goal and even a mini conga of 2 fans.

AWSWORTH NAIL FINAL STRAW IN TO SANDHURST

AWSWORTH VILLA FC 2 SANDHURST FC 1

Sandhurst went into the game knowing that they needed four points from their final two games and to pull back a four goal advantage that Beeston AFC had over them to avoid relegation.

 

On arrival was greeted by Kev Buxton who sorted us out with a cuppa, before he headed in to the changing rooms to sort out his side for the game. The players entered the pitch and Awsworth pushed forward whilst Sandhurst played on the break.

 

The game needed a goal as chances were going astray mainly for Villa, but the game burst in to life just before half time, when a incident on the near side saw two players come together and as they walked away, the home player lashed out with a kick and ref Scott Anderson had no alternative but to produce a red card.

 

The Second Half seemed more open with both sides attacking and after a hour Awsworth made a sub and within 2 minutes sub JOSH DEACON bent a 25 yard curling shot past the visiting keeper.

 

Sandhurst pushed forward against the home ten men but sadly didn't create much in the final third as shot went wayward or the home defence held steady. After 77 minutes, a long ball found home forward SAM HALLSWORTH who fired a bullet of a shot to double his sides advantage.

 

Sandhurst continued to push forwards and got a consulation goal on 85 minutes through LEWIS BATCHELOR to make it 2-1.

BASFORD SEE OFF THE COBRAS FIGHTBACK

Two of the best footballing sides quite rightly met in this seasons Notts FA Senior Cup Final and possibly gave us on the one of the best Finals I've seen in the past 20 odd years. No bad tackles, just two teams that wanted to play football.

 

I sat throughout the game with the bearded wonder Malc Storer and his good side-kick Kev Goodman who let me use the photo above, many thanks Kev.

 

After a few pints in the Pate bar and a few hello's to lots of folks I know from around the Non League Footballing Scene, I entered the ground and joined Malc and Kev and had a natter before the players were soon out on the pitch.

 

The first 30 minutes of the game were quite even with Basford doing most of the attacking but Clipstone breaking quick. Then after 35 minutes, the ball came to STUART HENDRIE who ran in to space and hit a curling shot from 30 yards on the right hand side in to the net to give Basford the advantage.

 

Clipstone came out for the Second Half and were caught cold, when a trip on the right side of the box on 51 minutes resulted in a free kick to United, the free kick was floated in and was met by the head of DEON MEIKLE to make it 2-0, within a minute it was 3-0 as that man STUART HENDRIE struck again, at this stage it looked like it was going to be a matter of how many were Basford going to get.

 

On 58 minute, the ball pinged around the Cobras penalty box and was only cleared to the edge of the box, where STUART HENDRIE struck his hat trick and made it 4-0..surely no way back for Clipstone now or was there?

 

Clipstone then upped theit game and pushed forward and in the 65th minute, CALLUM MAWBY beat the offside trap and fired him to a big roar of the local Mansfield based supporters, but surely still too much to do, but the Cobras hadn't read the script and pulled another goal back on 75 minutes again through CALLUM MAWBY and when JOSH GIBSON made it 4-3 after 87 minutes, there were a few Basford fans biting their nails with nerves around me.

 

As the board went up for 3 minutes to be played, Clipstone pushed everyone forward for the equaliser, but it was Basford who won the ball in their area and a long clearance found out RUBEN WIGGINS-THOMAS on the left wing who then paced forward and slotted the ball past the advancing Clipstone keeper to send the cup home to Basford.

CROWDS FLOCK TO NOTTS SENIOR LEAGUE GROUNDHOP SUCCESS

THE THIRD ANNUAL NOTTS SENIOR LEAGUE GROUNDHOP

The weekend began on Friday afternoon with us arriving at Kingsway Park, the home of Ashland Rovers FC who were to host table toppers of Division Newark Flowserve FC. Flowserve went in to the match knowing that they only needed a point for promotion but wanted the three points to remain in pole position. We were soon joined by the Ashland Committee and the ice cream van and catering van and then the crowd began to stream in.

Ashland took a early lead and could have been 3-0 up at one stage in a game that saw both sides go close but on half time, Flowserve equalised. In the second half, Flowserve upped their game and showed why they were at the top gliding in to a 3-1 lead with only 10 minutes to go, but Ashland had other ideas and fought back to earn a draw in a 3-3 draw. The game though a League match was also a match for a cup named the Norway Cup which was sponsored by Paul Nicholson, whose mum Joan sadly passed away recently, Joan had attended several of my Groundhops and it was really fitting that the NSL and Paul wished to mark her memory with this celebration of her life Trophy. After match Paul presented both clubs with the trophy to share, the following photo was taken by good friend Laurence Reade.

 

The Saturday morning, Hazel dropped me and Shawn at Mansfield Woodhouse train station at 6am, whilst she carried n through to Bingham Town FC, me and Shawn were joined at the train station by Buxton Hopper Ian Oldfield and we caught the train in to Nottingham. A good hearty breakfast was had by all at Granby Café on Station Street with several other hoppers joining us there as the early sun rose. It was then round to Queens Road to meet the coach and everyone was there on time, except one new chap who had to do the mile sprint from one part of Nottingham down the hill to us, but we still departed before time..well we nearly did, as the coach wasn't going over 20 mph and then stopped, a phone call to the coach company by our driver Rueban seemed to sort the problem out, much to my relief and also the delightment of the hoppers aboard..problem sorted..it was until we reached Butt Field, as the coach pulled up outside the ground and the doors wouldn't open, so out the emergency exit we went, whilst the coach mechanic was on his way.

 

Bingham Town FC were all there and ready according to Hazel at 7am and as a bit worried at 8.20am as no hoppers had arrived, but hazel gave them the calming words of don't worry. Infact they soon came as the first few fell off the train on to the ground at around 8.45am and were soon tucking in to the boxed breakfasts and supping the real ale on sale. Shirts and programmes soon were being snapped up and when we arrived it was quite busy, but unknown to me, there was a Wetherspoons just over the railway bridge and the hoppers followed like a flock to sample their own beers before getting back for the match.

 

BINGHAM TOWN FC 0 RUDDINGTON VILLAGE FC 0

Attendance: 387

 

Hoppers don't like 0-0's but hardly anyone moaned about this one, as there were plenty of chances in this open game, where both sides pressed forward to score, but just couldn't. Bingham Town FC coped well with the big crowd and everyone went away feeling good.

 

Back on the coach as we headed to Victoria Park, the home of Netherfield Albion FC who were to host Nottinghamshire FC, having seen both teams I thought this may just be a bit one-sided to the home club and said on the coach, this game will not be a 0-0, this will have plenty of goals, so no need to worry! The coach parked outside the ground and I will be very honest, I wasn't too sure how this ground as going to be able to cope with the parking, but they were first class, the programme they produced was their first ever and this was a good issue, Sadly I don't think they was expecting so many people and the chap only did 50 pies, which were gone before the coach arrived, but people were still queing for mushy peas.

 

NETHERFIELD ALBION FC 1 NOTTINGHAMSHIRE FC 0

Attendance: 292

 

Both sides seems to have got stage shock infront of a big crowd, but it was Albion who had the better of the chances, but the Nottinghamshire keeper was like Rocky at every corner, punching the ball away and he made several good chances to keep his team in the game. The visitors also had a couple of good chances. As the game began to head to our 2nd 0-0, the hoppers began to stir and thought Id set up all the games in the day to be goalless, but just before the end of the game came a goal to Netherfield which got the biggest cheer of the weekend. Hoppers headed away from the ground relieved they'd seen a goal.

 

On to the coach for the five minute drive to The Poplars, the home of leafy village Burton Joyce FC who were to host Attenborough FC, well with these two teams next to each other in the league table, I really did have a feeling this one could well ended up 0-0. As we turned the corner to head on to Station Road, we hit another problem, a damn builder had parked his van and the coach couldn't get to the ground, but then a man with his backside showing out his loose trousers appeared and moved it..panic over!

 

BURTON JOYCE FC 3 ATTENBOROUGH FC 3

Attendance: 279

 

On arrival, the bar was packed with folks and thought I'd get a drink later, so headed outside and off to the BBQ stall as Id been promised a polish tradition dish by Burton Joyce Manager/Chairman Stef, with the food selling out very early at Netherfield, the queue here never stopped, as they had Hot Dogs, Burgers on sale, then Pasta Salad which went very quick and was a bargain at £1.50, the hoppers loved it. Stef soon kept his pledge with the polish dish which Ive no idea what was called but it was a belter and he gave me a bottle of polish lager to wash it down with, he then bought out another dish of this lovely food and told me to share it amongst the hoppers and they remarked how they should have put this on the menu as well as it was lovely. The game kicked off and te thoughts of a 0-0 soon vanished as Burton Joyce was awarded a penalty but the Attenborough keeper was equal to the kick and kept it out, but in the next move, Burton were in front. Attenborough soon hit back and before long were 3-1 up, this had a feeling of the night befores game at Ashland Rovers FC, as Burton Joyce came back to make it 3-3, just before the end of the match, the Burton Joyce keeper came out the box and took the leg of the Attenborough attacker and was dismissed. Must thank Burton Joyce as they surprised me by donating all the raffle proceeds to my charity, at the end of this blog report I will thank everyone and let you all know how much was raised and a up to date total.

 

It was then on the way to Walesby, to see a real local derby, between 2 clubs based only a mile apart and with several players having played for both teams, this game could well have been a classic. On arrival, Ive never seen so many volunteers in my life at a hop match and how well the club was organised. The coach was soon parked and off the hoppers disappeared in to the distance.

With Kirton already relegated at the end of the season and Sandhurst needing the points to catch Beeston AFC to remain in the Senior Division, I thought this game may just be one way, but Kirton hadn't read the script and took a early lead, I then got a hot dog as the Jacket potatoes were flying out. I was stood with Mrs Birch, the mother of Kirton's Secretary, when Sandhurst fought back and equalised, must to a big cheer from Mrs Birch, I asked why she had cheered a Sandhurst goal and she thought Kirton was in orange..opps! we laughed about it. I would like to thank all the clubs for their teams, both on and off the pitch who made this years Groundhop such a success, every clubs conduct was a credit to themselves and also to the Notts Senior League, I would also like to thank every person for attending any of the matches, without you, there would be no groundhop, the hoppers who buy the Advanced Tickets as this also helps the away clubs, as it is always difficult to go to a club and ask them to kick off away on a Friday Night or Saturday Morning. Every home club and Kirton Brickworks that has made a donation to my blogs Charity and also to Ruddington Village who gave me the groundhop shirt I was wearing over the weekend. Aldo to Terry's Badges who donated the Special NSL groundhop badges, plus all those who bought items from Hazel on the Charity Stall.

 

I have counted up this afternoon all the money raised over the weekend and I had to re count it three times as I thought it cant be right but it is..we raised a AMAZING £770..a BIG THANKYOU to all.

 

The running total is the highest we have ever reached and stands at £1,307

This years NSL Groundhop started under the floodlights at Kingsway, the home of Ashland Rovers FC and what a great game we saw with mid table Ashland going in front after just 7 minutes, They could have added to their total, but in the 45th minute, they were pegged back through a equaliser.

 

The Second half looked as if it was to belong to the top of the table visitors who fired in to a 3-1 lead, but the homesters had other ideas as they pulled back 2 late goals.

 

The Norway Cup sponsored by Paul Nicholson in celebration of his mum (Granny Groundhop) who sadly passed away was presented to both captains after the match for the clubs to share after a few touching words from Paul.

Only a short blog report on the semi final tie, it was a very close encounter between 2 of the top teams in the Notts Senior League Senior Division with not a lot on the night to pick between them.

Wollaton began the better attacking the stand end, with Selston playing n the break. The Second half saw Selston playing better and attacking but it was Wollaton on 65 minutes who made the breakthrough when RYAN BOWEN slotted home. Selston then threw everything at the Wollaton defence but they defended well and saw the game out to reach the final to meet West Bridgford FC at Basford United on May 12th.

 

Hazel would like to thank everyone who donated to the raffle by buying tickets and she raised £51 towards the charity's total, so a BIG thankyou to you all.

IMPORTANT NOTTS SENIOR LEAGUE GROUNDHOP INFO

URGENT MESSAGE FOR THE FRIDAY(ASHLAND ROVERS FC)

 

I know many of you will be coming along to Ashland Rovers FC on Friday Evening for the Groundhop match v Newark Flowserve kick off 7.30pm.

 

It has been bought to my attention this morning that the Ashland Rovers FC Website is incorrect, as the manager from last season who used to do the website has moved on, so the site doesn't get update and shows they play at Sherwood Colliery where they played a few matches last season before going to Kirkby Town FC.

 

Ashland Rovers play at KINGSWAY, which is at the bottom of Hodgkinson Road, Kirkby in Ashfield NG17 7DJ.

 

There is limited parking at the ground and will fill quite quickly, there are 2 pay and display car parks on both sides as you enter Hodgkinson Road, which are free from 6pm.

 

Those coming by train from Nottingham or Worksop, Get off train at KIRKBY IN ASHFIELD, come to top of steps and go left along main road, past Aldi/Lidl and through 2 sets of traffic lights, turn in to Hdgkinson Road and ground is at the bottom.

 

Those who like Wetherspoons, from train station, follow main road up the hill, up to 3rd set of traffic lights and The Regent is on the corner

NOTTS SENIOR LEAGUE GROUNDHOP TICKETS BEATS RECORD

 

 

Last season saw the second Precision Notts Senior League Groundhop and Advanced Bookings hot a new high for me with 158 Advanced Tickets sold, so this seasons was always going to be a tall order to hit around that mark. The closing date for this seasons Advanced Tickets has now passed and we have beaten the record amount sold last season with 160 Tickets sold, with fans coming as far as Sweden and all corners of the UK to support this event.

 I am so very proud that people show support for the Notts Senior League Groundhop, a league that is Step 7 on the football pyramid and people do take notice of GRASSROOTS FOOTBALL,

Wednesday Evening 22nd April sees the Notts Senior League Cup Semi Final between Selston FC v Wollaton FC at Kimberley MW FC;s Stag Ground, I am laying out a table for the locals to purchase a advanced ticket, as quite a few of the local  clubs don't have matches on Saturday 25th April and local fans may be wondering where to go.

I do also have just 2 spare seats left on the coach on the Saturday leaving from Midland Train Station(Queens Road), Nottingham at 8.30am, but you MUST get in touch with me.

 

I am over the moon with the response of the Hoppers who continue to support my hops every season and also look forward to meeting quite a few new Groundhoppers next Friday evening at Ashland Rovers.

CHAIRMAN'S DAY SUCCESS FOR SELSTON FC

This season's Chairmans Day at Selston FC was a huge success with locals turning out in their numbers on a sunny day. I arrived at about 1pm and already there was youth and small kids matches being played on different pitches. I was met by Selston Chairman Mark Wilson who kindly made a healthy donation to the Blogs Charity. Then I headed to the bar, which had several Real Laes on barrel but I opted for the Real ale Strawberry Cider, well to be honest I had quite a few throughout the day until I left at 7pm, so if this blog report doesn't make any sense, then god bless me!

 

Mark Wilson then took me over to the Under 7's match but we was chased off by a nice Selston FC Committee Member as we had taken our glasses a little bit too far..opps! My son Shawn wanted to go on the large inflatable slide, where it was 10 goes for £3, but after his 10 goes, there was no one on it, so the kind lady told him to stay on until they got busy, 30 goes later and Shawn got bored and wanted to go on the Bouncing castle to which I told him he could after the match, he wanted a ice cream, so told him at half time.

 

After we were both relaxing and talking to Assistant Referee Colt Simpson, my good friend and fellow hopper Rob Campion appeared with his good lady and were soon in the same spirit as me as they sampled the Strawberry Cider.

 

I then met Steve Bingham, who is the Referee for this coming Fridays NSL Groundhop match between Ashland Rovers FC v Newark Flowserve FC and then finally the other assistant Tim Bee or TB for short. I soon got the line up's and was ready for the match.

 

Soon the players were on the pitch and the game was on the way, with Selston on the attack with Sandhurst defending bravely, though after 25 minutes, a miskick from the visiting keeper fell to a midfield player who then saw the keeper redeem himself with a flying one handed save.

 

Half time came and I was in bad books as Shawn was upset, the Ice cream man had cleared off, he was soon calmed down when Selstons Secretary sold him some sweets and drink and then he had a hot dog and I had a lovely burger.

 

For the Second Half, I was joined by Bilborough Town FC Secretary Wayne Morrison on the near corner of the pitch. After 51 minutes, Selston got a corner on the right side and Airey floated it in long and it was met by centre back PERRY MARRIOTT who thumped home a powerful header to give the home club the lead.

 

The rest of the Second Half saw Sandhurst pushing forward and Selston playing on the break and this looked like there would be more goals to be seen, but the clock wound down and it finished 1-0 to Selston FC.

 

Well that bouncing castle time for Shawn..opps, they'd gone home as well, he found some local kids to play football with and when Hazel joined us, the singer was in the tent singing away and he sounded very good, the Sandhurst lads were still there at 7pm, so a real good day for Mark  Wilson and his Selston FC club.

 

With Mark's kind donation and goal scored it takes the Charity Blog's running total to £484.25
