Notts Intermediate Cup
2nd Round
AWSWORTH VILLA FC 0 UNDERWOOD VILLA FC 2
Underwood Villa of the Notts Senior League Division One gave up home advantage due to a waterlogged pitch for the second week running and switched the tie to their Notts Senior League Senior Division opponents Awsworth Villa's Shilo Ground.
After rain in the morning and most of the Friday, the pitch looked heavy but the Awsworth staff had done a excellent job in getting the game on.
Awsworth began the brighter and had a few shot but they were all off target and didn't trouble the keeper in the Underwood net.
After 26 minutes, a mistake in the Awsworth defence, saw Underwood attacker NICHOLAS THORPE stride through and put the ball past the home keeper.
The Second half saw the visitors continue on the attack and on 54 minutes, a delicate chip by Thorpe was met by JOSH NIBLETT who doubled his sides lead.
Awsworth tried to pour forward but the visitors defence and midfield were solid and the homesters had to restort to long range efforts, whilst Underwood broke and could well have gone even further in front.
Must mention referee Phil Towers who had a excellent game.
Underwood Villa FC now go on to face Bilsthorpe FC at the Welfare Ground on Saturday 29th November.
