Notts FA Senior Cup
Second Round
AFC MANSFIELD 0 SELSTON FC 1
att 91
Last season Notts Senior League club Selston FC travelled to Forest Town Welfare and put Central Midlands outfit out of the Notts Senior Cup 2-0. AFC Mansfield replaced their management over the weekend and Rudi Funk stepped up to the plate of new manager in taking charge of the now Northern Counties East club. Selston FC came in to the tie in good form having won seven of the last nine games.
The First Half was a very even half affair and step seven club Selston FC looked well settled in to the game. The Second Half saw Selston creating the better chances and on 75 minutes, a long range shot by Dominic Airey was parried away by the Bulls Keeper Gav Saxby only for JAY COOPER to follow up and force home.
As AFC pushed forward the gaps appeared at the back and the Underdogs Selston found more space and stretched the Mansfield back line and could well have added more to their total.
On the final whistle, Selston were well worthy of their victory and the new manager of AFC Mansfield stated they were beaten by the better side on the evening.
After the match, Referee Kev Guise, Groundhopper Steve from Sheffield and AFC Manager Rudi Funk kindly donated £25 in total to the Blogs Charity, so a big thankyou to all of them.
