A BIT ABOUT THE CHARITY BLOG

Each year, me and my wife Hazel have decided to help a Charity, by donating 25p every goal we see at the matches we attend. Over the years, people and clubs have also donated as we have visited the grounds and we have raised over £2,300 in the 3 seasons we have run the Blog.
During the 2014-15 season, we are supporting "Support Dogs" who train Dogs to transform lives of people with Autism and other disabilities. So if you would like to make a donation(no matter how small) and you see me at a match, please come up to me or Hazel, we would be very grateful. All Donators will get a mention on the blog.

LOVE FLOWS THE POINTS TO NEWARK

Notts Senior League
Division One
NEWARK FLOWSERVE 2 RUDDINGTON VILLAGE RESERVES 1

Top v third was always going to be a close encounter but strong cross wind across the pitch made the game difficult for both sides.

Infact the first 30 minutes saw the ball out of play so much and in the field next to the pitch, my son Shawn who kept fetching the ball was in with a chance of man of the match!

After 34 minutes, Ruddington played a ball in to the Flowserve box that sprung about and was half cleared and fell to KAIDEN BURKE-CAMPBELL who let a direct shot go from 30 yards that flew in to the net.

The Second Half was a lot better with the flow goingend to end and the visitors could well have gone 2-0 up when Jordan Richardson's shot was smothered by the Newark keeper.

After 53 minutes, Flowserve got their first corner of the half that was swung in from the left hand side and JAMIE BROOKS was first there with his head to make it 1-1.

The game was there now for either club to take and the ball went from half to half, as the game looked as if it was heading for a draw, Flowserve received a free kick on the halfway line. A long ball was played forward and Luke Boddy stumbled over the ball and it went in to the path of MASON LOVE who was making his home debut to place home the winner after 86 minutes.

TOWN'S BRUMPTON DENTS UNITED'S CHARGE

Notts Senior League
Division Two
NEWARK TOWN RESERVES 4 BILBOROUGH UNITED 1
Having never been to Devon Park, I decided to pop along and look at two of the Notts Senior league's newest clubs. Newark have been floating around the midway area in the table whilst their visitors have been in the top four, so I went with a average of seeing 5 goals per match this season, thinking this should be a straight forward victory for the away side.

On arrival, was greeted by the Secretary Tony Kelly and was told just to help ourselves to a cuppa, my mum who is still with us till Sunday and Hazel took charge of the tearoom, making drinks for everyone, when Tony told us that our drinks were free, I think mum got a big confused as the home supporters were over the moon at being given free drinks throughout the game!

The game kicked off and was quite even, but in the 11th minute, United were awarded a free kick just outside the area to which MARTIN WALKER hit home to give his side the lead.

The game then went through a dull spell with very few chances but after 39 minutes, ADAM BODDY broke through and beat the keeper in a one on one situation to level up the scoreline.

After the half time cuppa, I joined the Newark Town Chairman to watch the Joe Brumpton show.

After 49 minutes, a cross from the right wing found out JOE BRUMPTON who fired past the approaching keeper.

A few strong challenges began to go in from both sides and the game could have boiled over but credit to both sets of players on calming themselves down.

On 65 minutes, a slow reaction from the away defence saw JOE BRUMPTON flash on to a loose ball and slide it past the keeper in to the bottom corner of the net to make it 3-1.

Bilborough United pushed forward and forced a couple of good saves from the home keeper but Newark kept pushing forward and a long ball found JOE BRUMPTON who snatched his hat trick and gave his side the points.

HOLDERS THROUGH TO FINAL IN EXTRA TIME

Notts Senior League Junior Cup
Semi Final
ASHLAND ROVERS RESERVES 1 LINBY COLLIERY WELFARE RESERVES 2
After Extra Time
Attendance: 67
played at Hucknall Rolls Leisure FC

Linby finally made their way through to the Final in extra time after a excellent advert for football.

Ashland Reserves play in the Notts Senior League Division Two, whilst holders of the Junior Cup, Linby Reserves play in the division above.

The game began evenly with both sides creating chances, but Ashland had to make a very sub when their player/manager went to the ground after twisting his foot. On the half hour, it was Ashland who were making the better chances with back line of Linby clearing off their goal line twice.

Linby came out in the Second half with more intent on having a go at goal but Ashland held firm until after a foul on the right side, Linby received a free kick which was floated to the far post where ALISTAIR MURRAY headed home on 65 minutes.

Ashland pushed forward and on 72 minutes were on level terms when JULIAN TOPLISS hit a cute angled ball home. From there on, it was Linby on the front foot, but it remained 1-1 at 90 minutes.

In to extra time and again Linby made the better start and on 95 minutes, LUKE PRICE hit home the winner to see the holders through to the Final to meet either Kimberley MW or Keyworth United.

CALVERTON TAKE THE POINTS AT AFC

Notts Senior League
Division Two
CLIFTON AFC 1 CALVERTON MW 4

There were a few reasons why I picked out todays game, one I'd never seen Clifton AC before as they are a new club to the NSL, two they were hosting a first team and thirdly Id been to the venue earlier this season to see FC Cavaliers and that game was played in the 4g pitch so never seen a game here on the grass pitch.

On arrival at 2pm, I found that the game had been switched by the college from the grass pitch to the 4g pitch as we arrived, but sill there was a game to be seen.

I met both clubs and their officials and then the referee Lewis Saunders-Johnson who has recently well earned promotion in his ranks. In to the cage I went and began to chat with a couple of the players parents who happened to know my son Brett who is now based in Germany after a stint in Afgan.

The game began at a frantic page as the ball zipped off the 4g surface, but it was the visitors who was doing the most of the attacking and after 25 minutes gained a corner on the left side that was floated in and the ball found its way to LIAM DEARNE who headed them ahead.

Both sides battled but Calverton seemed as if they had another gear to step up in to and on the stroke of half time, the home keeper had to be at his best to turned round a close range effort at full stretch.

The Second Half kicked off and again it was Calverton on the front foot whilst AFC seemed to be struggling a little and after 58 minutes the visitors doubled their lead through BEN MIDDLETON.

This seemed to spark Clifton in to their best period of the game and on a couple of occasions had the chance to cut the arrears but for poor finishing, but they kept their game plan and on 65 minutes, a diagonal through ball by Mark Commander found out CALLUM BOULTON who finished off the move.

Clifton pushed forward for the equaliser but it was the visitors who grabbed a corner on the right hand side that was played very long and found THOMAS THRAVES who lashed the ball home on the volley after 72 minutes.

With the homesters pushing forward, a breakdown from a corner resulted in a long ball forward that found JOSEPH WARNER on 89 minutes for him to run forward and fire Calverton in to a 4-1 lead and wrap up the points.

Must say a excellent display by the referee.

After the match in the bar, Mr Mullins manager of Calverton MW FC kindly donated to the Blogs Charity so a big thankyou, as with the 5 goals today and the donation it takes the amount raised to £375

Photos from todays match can be seen on this LINK

Clifton AFC are a new club and play on the next ground to Clifton All White but have no connection to them, they are a new independent club and are a friendly bunch so well worthy of a visit.

Clifton AFC don't have a website or twitter yet

SELSTON COOKE UP A WIN

Notts Senior League
Senior Division
SELSTON FC 4 BOOTS ATHLETIC FC 2

After a week in hospital and not sure where to go, I felt I should go local incase I didn't feel too well and had to return home, so had a look at the fixtures and noticed that Selston FC were at home.

On arrival met officials from both camps and just before kick off met fellow charity bloggers Malc Storer & Kev Goodman, their blog is a very good one and it was them that game the inspiration of starting this blog..Their blog addie is http://ontheroad2014-2015.blogspot.co.uk/

The game kicked off and within 76 seconds home debutant TOM WIDDOWSON had put the league leaders ahead. From there it looked a matter of how many Selston would score, but it took until the 26th minute before they doubled their advantage through WAYNE COOKE.

The Second Half kicked off and Boots came out like lightening having made a few substitutes and on 50 minutes, MITCHEL JACKSON reduced the arrears, this seemed to push Boots forward and on 58 minutes they were on level terms through sub ALEX PALMER.

On the hour, a cross from the right side was met by Boots Defender CHRIS HUTCHINSON who fired past his own keeper. It was now the home clubs turn to push forward and create chances, some wayward and some over the bar before 78 minutes, when WAYNE COOKE made the points secure. Just before the end the visitors  Ricky Robinson kicked out and was dismissed for violent conduct.
